THE APPLICATION

Crude and heavy fuel oil fired Power Stations all over the world face both Environmental and Technical problems. This is due to the increased usage of low quality fuel oil with high Sulfur, Vanadium and Asphaltene content.
The incomplete combustion of the fuel oil as well as the Vanadium and Sulfur content causes deposits and corrosions ( in all parts of the boiler and excessive emissions ( of solids (particulates) and sulfur trioxide.
In most countries new legislation force the Power Stations to find solutions to comply with the lower emission limits and also to cope with the increased technical problems resulting from the combustion of low quality fuels.

THE SOLUTION

Pentol has developed and successfully applied in many cases a new technology to optimise combustion and thus to minimise the environmental and technical impact of burning low quality fuels. The development consists of equipment and chemicals to produce a stable water in oil emulsion.
The equipment in installed on-line and requires no changes to the existing fuel oil system:
The emulsification units are standardised for the most common fuel oil consumption rates, that is up to 30, 70 and 150 to/hour per boiler. Due to the high stability of the emulsion, it can be introduced into the fuel oil line before the burners, or local to the day tank.
